On 14 april 1912, the 'unsinkable' Titanic struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage. It was packed with rich passengers, many of whom lost their lives as there were only a few life boats to accommodate them all.
In 1898 a novel was published, called 'Futility' by journalist Margan Robertson. It was about an unsinkable liner sailing from Southampton on her maiden voyage. Full of rich passengers, it struck an iceberg and sank killing many of those on board. The name of the ship in Robertson’s novel was 'Titan'.
